We had a room overlooking the carpark on level 6 with a balcony but we also had views over the river. It was great. The room was the largest I have ever stayed in with a king bed and sofa bed. There was still room for a table and chairs. The room was clean, excellent Wifi and TV streaming. The interior was pretty cool especially the room numbering in the carpet tiles. The staff were exceptional. My elderly mother was not feeling well and the Grain Silo Restaurant made her a simple cheese sandwich at 9pm at night. Location excellent. Short 5 min walk through landscaped reserve and over pedestrian bridge to marina restaurants. Easy to walk to The University and CBD if needed. We walked everywhere.

Breakfast and dinner were superb meals and the service was wonderful. The produce was great and the menu interesting. The portion sizes were a problem. Not everyone wants to eat a mountain and no indication is given about the size of the meal which is about to confront the diner. It would be a great help to have half-sized serves as an option. This would help to improve the enviro-friendly credentials of the Silo as it would lead to less waste and a smaller enviro footprint. It would also allow the diners to taste a greater range of dishes/courses and have even more reason to spread the good word about the Silo.

This was our favourite stay in Tasmania. The service was friendly and professional. Our first room had a beautiful view of the river. Tasty in room dining. Large room and bathroom and very clean. Great shower heads, nice and big. Hotel was close to everything but away from the hustle & bustle. Foxtel was included. We returned a few days later and our second room was just as nice, we just didn’t have the river view that time. It was a little expensive but we would stay here again if we revisit Launceston.

Wow, this was pure luxury, I absolutely loved this hotel, the staff were exceptionally professional and friendly. I felt like I was in a five-star hotel. The restaurant menu and food were divine. The design of the hotel was cool being an old silo. the room was gigantic, and I loved the view over the river, watching people rowing and walking past was lovely and from the comfort of our massive soft comfortable bed, even better.
